Join the second edition of FECINART Kreen: “Glaciers: Waters That Come From Afar”

Following the successful first edition held in 2025 in Puerto Aysén, the FECINART Kreen returns, further establishing itself as a space where cinema, education, and environmental reflection come together. In this new edition, alongside the Audiovisual Creation Workshop aimed at young people interested in filmmaking and environmental communication, the festival is also launching an open call — running through early July — for emerging audiovisual creators from across Chile who wish to showcase their documentary work.

On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the second edition of FECINART Kreen will take place at the Centro Cultural Casa Alerce. This initiative is organized by Fundación Kreen, Patagonia Coyhaique, and the Centro Cultural Casa Alerce. This year, under the theme “Glaciers: Waters That Come From Afar,” the festival invites audiences to explore these vast and ancient masses of ice — great sculptors of the landscapes of Patagonia and Chile.

Through the lens of glaciers and water, the festival seeks to delve into the stories surrounding this element and its many forms of life, understanding its presence as a force that connects all organisms and ecosystems. Water circulates, transforms, and continually renews itself, linking glaciers, rivers, lakes, soils, and oceans, while also connecting the living beings that inhabit and contain it through an ongoing process of exchange and vital renewal. In this way, water not only shapes the landscape, but also weaves invisible relationships between species, territories, and ways of life.

Under this theme, we invite emerging audiovisual creators from across the region and the country to share their work and join this space for exhibition and dissemination. The open call will run from May 18 to July 8, 2026. This initiative is not a competitive festival, but rather a platform for showcasing and promoting audiovisual works, aimed at highlighting diverse perspectives on territories and their ecosystems. We therefore call on creators, filmmakers, and artists from across Chile to submit works that, through audiovisual language, contribute to reflection on and protection of natural spaces and biodiversity, with special emphasis on glaciers and water.

The festival will accept documentary short films between 5 and 30 minutes in length that explore stories of interconnectedness with nature: narratives that reveal the richness of the natural world by highlighting species, ecosystems, moments of discovery, conservation initiatives, research processes, or collaborations between communities. We are looking for works that convey sensitive and hopeful perspectives capable of raising awareness and inspiring action.

Selected participants will be notified during the month of July, and their works will be screened during the second edition of FECINART Kreen on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Centro Cultural Casa Alerce. The event will also feature works created as part of the Audiovisual Creation Workshop taking place throughout June, designed for young people between the ages of 17 and 21 from the Puerto Aysén community.

We invite you to review the open call guidelines for documentary submissions here.
