Teacher Training Program in Responsible Pet Ownership and UNA Health

Teachers and environmental educators from Puerto Aysén actively participated in the Teacher Training Program on Responsible Pet Ownership and UNA Health, promoted by Fundación Kreen and The GAAP (Global Alliance for Animals and People).

The online classes and in-person workshops, which lasted about a month, allowed participants to learn the essential elements of responsible pet ownership and its importance for animal, human, and environmental well-being, known as the One Health concept. They also learned teaching tools to share this new knowledge with their educational community.

The teacher training course was held within the framework of the “Links for Multispecies Coexistence” program of the Healthy Pawprints project by the Kreen Foundation, which aims to redefine the relationship between humans and nature and contribute to the care of biodiversity in the Aysén region of Patagonia.

The activities, facilitated by Paula Marín and Nadia Pérez of The GAAP, will continue in a second phase with a series of workshops for children, in which some of the teachers will apply the knowledge acquired in the program.

We would like to highlight the participation of teachers from the Ribera Sur Basic School, the Poetisa Gabriela Mistral School and the Santa Teresa Bicentennial High School of Puerto Aysén, as well as professionals from the Municipality of Aysén and the Municipality of Cochrane and the Responsible Pet Ownership and Companion Animal Program (PTRAC) of the Undersecretariat of Regional and Administrative Development (Subdere Aysén).
