Monitoring in the Tabo River sector

A team from the Kreen Foundation conducted a field trip to the Tabo River area, Aysén Region.

Part of the task involved retrieving and checking the condition of camera traps installed during previous expeditions, as well as installing new ones to expand the monitoring area.

These cameras are primarily expected to detect the presence of various terrestrial vertebrates, including the monito del monte (Dromiciops gliroides), a small marsupial listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN and native to the temperate forests of Patagonia and the Biobío and La Araucanía regions.

Through these expeditions, the aim is also to identify any introduced or exotic species in the area and, if present, to monitor and design strategies that help mitigate any potential effects on native fauna.
