Links for multispecies coexistence

23 pets participated in the veterinary operation carried out on August 24 in the town of Los Palos, within the framework of the program “Links for multi-species coexistence” promoted by Fundación Kreen.

The activity was carried out in conjunction with the Municipality of Aysén and had the support of the Laguna and Ríos Los Palos Development Committee, as well as the Scout group from the Santa Teresa de los Andes School.

Veterinarian Angélica Hidalgo, in charge of the municipality’s Responsible Pet Ownership Program (PTRAC), performed a medical evaluation on each of the dogs and cats brought by their owners to the La Pancha community center. She then administered antiparasitic medication, six-in-one vaccines, feline triple vaccine, and rabies vaccine, and implanted microchips, as needed in each case.

This initiative seeks to contribute to a balance between animal, human, and environmental well-being—three interdependent areas collectively known as One Health.

Responsible pet ownership is one of the strategies to promote this balance, since good practices such as vaccination and deworming prevent the transmission of diseases to other animals and to humans (zoonosis).
